The activity was designed to build practical life skills and economic empowerment among young mothers aged between 14 and 24 years. The training responded to the need to equip young mothers with vocational skills that can help them support their families, improve nutrition at household level, and create High income-generating opportunities. The program was conducted over a period of seven consecutive days to four groups two from Kanga and two from dihinda which involved hands-on participation under the guidance of a professional trainer.
Young mothers often face social and economic challenges, including unemployment, limited education opportunities, and dependence on family support. Equipping them with practical skills such as cookery and baking is an effective strategy for empowering them to contribute to household income and improve family nutrition. In addition, the training emphasized the importance of preparing high-quality, well presented and hygienic food that can compete in modern markets such as restaurants, catering services and food vending businesses. Participants were encouraged to move beyond preparation of common meals with high market value that attract customers and generate better income
